Testimonial from IT Communications for their new website
Friday, October 7th, 2011Dave Benwell from IT Communications Limited was so impressed with the level of service from First Impression, he had to get in touch.
“If anyone is not happy with the performance of their current website, I would recommend
giving First Impression a call for an honest and trustworthly discussion”
I was looking at different ways to market my website so I contacted a few local web companies however I was very unhappy with the responses that I was getting.
During the discussions with several companies, we talked about my current website and the lack of conversions, I was getting approximitely 1000 visits a month but had a poor conversion rate of only 1%!!
The majority of the web companies that I spoke to tried to miss-sell me an SEO Package (Search Engine Optimisation) along with Google Adwords totalling as much as £200 a month! I failed to understand why they would recommend an SEO package on a website that was not converting customers?
After doing some digging I found First Impression. I spoke to Martin Duncan, who totally understood my concerns. Martin suggested we had our website redeveloped and the initial objective was to increase the conversion rate and then at a later date to take an SEO Package.
Relieved, I quickly agreed and invested in a new and improved website which had an integrated shopping cart to enable buying online. Dan Collins, the website designer starting the website and we were extremely pleased with his efforts and work in both the design and setup of the new site. Dan was always willing to go the extra mile to ensure we are happy with the design and functionality of the new site.
Since having the new website, we have noticed an improvement in Google:
- Old Site: Google (organic) 17.65% of one weeks Traffic
- New Site: Google (organic) 38.95% of one weeks Traffic and is increasing day by day.
We used to spend £180 a month for one keyword on google adwords and now we rank page one on natural listings on Google! For the first time we now get more enquiries from natural search terms than from adwords.
What’s more our direct traffic has increased from 17% to 38% in a matter of weeks!
If anyone is not happy with the performance of their current website, I would recommend giving First Impression a call for an honest and trustworthly discussion”.

Christmas at the oldest hotel in England has gone 21st century!
Monday, September 12th, 2011If you are planning on getting away from it all over the festive season with a traditional Christmas atmosphere, The Old Hall Hotel in Buxton has some special events going on in 2011, and is believed to be the oldest hotel in England, once home
to Mary Queen of Scot’s.
But the marketing team at The Old Hall didn’t want to do the usual Christmas brochure this year, they wanted something a bit special, just like their hotel. So, working with their marketing company, First Impression, a special Christmas campaign was created. A whole Christmas experience from the minute potential customers open their Christmas parcel, the magic begins.
The Christmas present entices you to their new animated Christmas site, with hand drawn illustrations by a local student. Father Christmas in his sleigh flies over the roof tops of the distinctive Buxton buildings, leaving you more presents to open. Christmas begins early at the Old Hall Hotel like most hotels, catering for Christmas parties and events and this year there are packages for people wanting to get away from it all. And then of course, there’s the Christmas period itself, from Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve parties through to the festive meals themselves.
With such a marketing campaign interest is expected to be high so they’ve enabled bookings to be made directly from the Christmas site. And what is really exciting for the oldest hotel in England, if you have an iphone, blackberry or android device you can access a special version of the Christmas site on your mobile directly through a QR code on the Christmas present.
For those who still prefer a more traditional brochure, you needn’t worry, The Old Hall Hotel have catered for your needs too, designed in the same format as the Christmas website so the whole campaign works together perfectly.

New website and new business for Crafty Bin
Thursday, July 14th, 2011Two retired friends, Lorraine and Elizabeth had been knitting and crocheting for years, sharing their creations with friends and relatives. They also started to make cards and decided to open a business with an online shop.
Their vision of Crafty Bin was born when First Impression, High Peak’s creative design and marketing company designed a crafty bin logo and full ecommerce website for them. It’s a fun site, very interactive and engaging, just like Lorraine and Elizabeth!
