Students at St Thomas More High get creative for the PTA
St Thomas More High School in Buxton put their student’s creativity to the test in November with a competition to design a new logo for the school’s PTA, Friends of St Thomas More. Students from across the school were asked to design an innovative new logo that they felt represented the PTA and then explain the reasons behind their design.
The competition was run by Head of Art, Peter Oates who managed to narrow the entries down to the best 10. Mr Oates then invited creative marketing company First Impression of London Road, Buxton to bring in their expert knowledge and face the difficult task of selecting a winner.
Director of First Impression, Martin Duncan said “It was great to see such a wide variety of skilled designers showing this level of creative talent at such a young age.” “It was really tough to pick a winner as there were so many great logos to choose from.”
After much deliberation the winner was chosen and first place went to Autumn Graydy of year 8 who will receive a £20 book voucher courtesy of First Impression.
Autumn also got the opportunity to visit the First Impression office in Buxton with Mr Oates on Wednesday 9th December where she spent time with a graphic designer who developed the logo into digital format, so it can be used on all PTA literature in the future.
