Many people view Facebook as the social network for the younger generation; a place to chat, connect with friends and share photographs. But when you take a closer look at the statistics, you will actually see that Facebook is a great way to connect with your customers and potential customers.
With over 24 million users in the UK alone, Facebook is by far the largest and most popular social networking site and as it continues to grow, more businesses are recognising its potential as a platform to market their business. Facebook has a very broad appeal and isn’t just used by teenagers, as the site grows so does the percentage of more mature users, in fact statistics from August 2010 show that the majority of Facebook users are aged 20-29 years, with the 30-39 age group coming in second. How Facebook can be used for business
Depending on your business industry Facebook can be used for many reasons, some of them include:

- Promote a special offer or sale
- Gather market research
- Ask people to sign up to your newsletter
- Suggest friends to clients to help gain their trust, who then may reciprocate
