Top tips for writing an effective leaflet

When producing a leaflet we are often tempted to pack it full of words explaining all about the amazing products and services we offer. But in reality too many words along with bad fonts, tired logos and cheap images can turn a customer off.

Next time you are preparing a leaflet follow these top tips to make sure you give the right message to your customers:

Avoid using clip art images as they can look cheap and tacky; instead opt for a full colour photo that will really help to whet your customers appetite. If you don’t have any good quality images of your products, or if your company offers a service such as training, you can purchase good quality stock images from companies such as istock.

Use a corner flash or a banner on the front of your leaflet to tempt your customers to read on. By giving them a teaser of what is inside, you are more likely to encourage your potential customer to read on and find out more about your company.

Remind customers of the benefits of your products or services by using short snappy phrases and sentences. Try not to go into too much detail, instead list the core benefits and give them a call to action to find out more.

Give customers an incentive to buy with a time bound offer. Special offers, free gifts and discount codes are not only a great incentive to buy but they also allow you to track how successful your leaflet has been and whether it is worth doing again in the future.

Don't forget the call to action- make it clear what you want your customers to do next! The clearer the message the more likely your customer is to call, visit your website or place an order.
